Seeing the news about a young man who had fired a revolver at the police during a protest just for the thrill of it—an act that turned out to involve a blank-firing gun—I saw myself at the age when I had just reached adulthood and remembered those desires and needs that I often couldn’t explain but that manifested in impulses. Actions that served to prove something and, at the same time, had cathartic effects. In the same way, the main character of this story finds an outlet for his unexpressed emotions and frustrations; he goes through difficult situations in his condition as a newly minted adult but hides or downplays his deepest feelings in order not to feel vulnerable around others and to be able to prove, under social pressure, what he is capable of.
