La Señora Dirce
One day I discovered that my adoptive grandmother had actually kidnapped my mother, and that Dirce, my biological grandmother, was a sex worker and had been completely erased from my family history. The desire to see a photo of Dirce was overwhelming. This film is not only a search for the truth and for my grandmother’s image to recognize my body and face in hers, but also a desire to challenge a conservative and moralistic society to talk about these women with silenced stories.

Director's note
The narrative stems from a personal urgency and transcends into questions about a society full of prejudices that silences the lives of certain women. Why is my grandmother Dirce’s story denied? Why is it not possible to speak openly about her work? Why are there no photographic records of her? This story is about a woman in complete vulnerability, about the impossibility of exercising her right to motherhood in the context of prostitution, about her invisibility and her silencing. .
